Welcome to our website
Knowsley Virtual School work with children who are looked after, their schools carers and social workers to ensure that they are able to access good educational provision and positive experiences in their learning to enable them to achieve. Whilst children and young people will attend their own actual physical school, the Virtual School is a small team of professionals dedicated to supporting children’s educational needs. We track attendance and progress ensuring that all children receive the support that they need. We are committed to ensuring that children are happy in their schools, as we know that this will have a positive impact on their learning; and our MADE Council (Children in Care Council) members have also highlighted the importance of this.
We work with a wide range of professionals (teachers, learning mentors, carers, parents) supporting them in their work to enable children and young people to have high aspirations and raising their achievement. We do this in a variety of ways (ie training events, consultations, attending Personal Education Planning meetings and in direct work with children and young people). All of our children are different, some will have educational special needs, some will be good at sport or music and some will go on to University. We work to enable them all to have choices and options as they move into adulthood. We are also responsible for working with children who are leaving care and promote their access to further and higher education, training, or employment and provide advice and guidance in relation to children who have been previously “looked after”.
